Lifestyle and Chronic Kidney Disease: What the Evidence Says
What does the evidence say about lifestyle and chronic kidney disease? Blood pressure, sodium, nutrition, and movement, explained by nephrologists.
What does the evidence say about lifestyle and chronic kidney disease? Blood pressure, sodium, nutrition, and movement, explained by nephrologists.
Kidney wellness is the daily, between-visit work that supports kidney health: blood pressure, nutrition, movement, and habits. Here is what it means.
Kidney health plays a vital role in your overall well-being—yet it’s often overlooked until problems become serious. At PRINE Health, nephrology isn’t just a specialty—it’s the foundation of a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to care.
With a focus on early detection, prevention, and advanced treatment, PRINE Health is redefining what kidney care looks like for patients across Long Island, Queens, and surrounding New York communities.
Nephrology is the medical specialty focused on diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the kidneys. These organs are essential for filtering waste, balancing fluids, and maintaining healthy blood pressure.
One of the most common conditions nephrologists treat is chronic kidney disease (CKD)—a progressive condition where the kidneys gradually lose function over time. Without proper management, CKD can lead to serious complications, including kidney failure.
Kidney disease is more common than many people realize—and often develops silently.
Because symptoms may not appear until later stages, early detection and proactive care are critical. That’s where specialized nephrology care makes a difference.
At PRINE Health, nephrology is at the core of everything they do. Their team of experienced nephrologists works closely with primary care providers and other specialists to deliver coordinated, personalized care.
This integrated model ensures that every aspect of a patient’s health is considered—especially important for those managing multiple chronic conditions.
Patients benefit from:
PRINE Health offers a full spectrum of nephrology services designed to support patients at every stage of kidney health.
Early diagnosis and continuous monitoring help slow disease progression and preserve kidney function.
For patients with more complex conditions, PRINE provides specialized care and treatment options tailored to individual needs.
Patients receive guidance on dialysis options and long-term care strategies, helping them make informed decisions about their health.
Through initiatives like patient education programs, PRINE empowers individuals with the knowledge they need to actively manage their condition and improve outcomes.
One of the most important aspects of kidney care is catching issues early.
Routine lab work, blood pressure monitoring, and managing conditions like diabetes can significantly reduce the risk of kidney disease progression. Proactive nephrology care allows patients to take control of their health before complications arise.
At PRINE Health, prevention isn’t just encouraged—it’s a central part of their care philosophy.
What makes PRINE Health unique is its integrated, multispecialty structure. Nephrologists collaborate with experts in areas like primary care, endocrinology, vascular care, and more to ensure seamless, coordinated treatment.
This team-based approach improves outcomes, reduces fragmentation in care, and provides patients with a more streamlined healthcare experience.
Kidney disease can feel overwhelming—but patients don’t have to navigate it alone.
From early-stage CKD to advanced kidney disease, PRINE Health is committed to supporting patients every step of the way. Their care teams provide not only medical expertise, but also guidance, education, and reassurance throughout the entire journey.
Your kidneys play a crucial role in your overall health—and taking care of them starts with the right team.
Whether you’re managing an existing condition, at risk for kidney disease, or simply want to stay proactive about your health, PRINE Health’s nephrology specialists are here to help.

Every May, we join millions across the country in recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month—an observance that began in 1949 to fight stigma, expand support, and deepen understanding of mental wellness. At PRINE Health, we believe caring for the mind is just as essential as caring for the body. True wellness begins when both are supported with compassion, connection, and community.
The Power of Connection: “More Good Days, Together”
This year’s theme from Mental Health America—“More Good Days, Together”—reminds us that mental health is not a journey we take alone. Connection with family, friends, colleagues, and care teams can bring hope, healing, and strength. Whether it’s reaching out for support or simply being present for someone who needs to talk, each moment of connection helps build a stronger, healthier community.
Sharing Our Stories: Strength in Every Voice
National Alliance on Mental Illness reinforces this message with its 2026 theme, “In Every Story, There’s Strength.” When people share their experiences, it helps others realize they are not alone—and that seeking help is an act of courage. At PRINE Health, we encourage open, honest conversations between patients, providers, and communities. Listening to one another fosters understanding, reduces stigma, and builds resilience.
A Symbol of Hope: The Color Green
Throughout May, you may notice the color green appearing more often—in ribbons, clothing, and community displays. Green symbolizes renewal, balance, and growth in mental health awareness. It serves as a reminder that healing is possible and that every day offers a chance for renewal, especially when we support one another.
Support Is Here: Taking Action for Your Mental Health
Awareness is important—but access to care is essential. That’s why we want to remind our team that support is already here, private, and within reach.
Through ADP Workforce Now, all employees have access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This resource is free, completely confidential, and designed to support you through life’s challenges. Services include:

At PRINE Health, our mission has always been clear: deliver comprehensive, compassionate care that improves outcomes and enhances quality of life. While we are widely recognized for our leadership in kidney care, our Vascular Division plays a critical role in supporting the overall health of our patients—especially those living with chronic conditions.
Your vascular system—made up of arteries and veins—circulates blood, oxygen, and nutrients throughout the body. When this system is compromised, it can lead to serious conditions such as peripheral artery disease (PAD), venous insufficiency, or blood clots. These conditions are especially common in patients with diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease.
At PRINE Health, we recognize that vascular health is deeply connected to kidney health and overall wellness. That’s why our Vascular Division is fully integrated into our multidisciplinary care model.
Our vascular specialists are experts in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, including:
Our goal is not just treatment—but early detection and proactive management to prevent complications before they arise.
What sets PRINE Health apart is our collaborative approach. Unlike traditional care models, our vascular specialists work closely with nephrologists, primary care providers, and other specialists to create a seamless patient experience.
This coordination is especially important for patients with chronic kidney disease, who often require both vascular access for dialysis and ongoing vascular monitoring. By bringing these services together, we reduce fragmentation and improve outcomes.
PRINE Health combines advanced clinical expertise with innovative care management tools and 24/7 patient support. Our vascular team leverages modern diagnostic techniques and minimally invasive procedures whenever possible, ensuring patients receive effective care with less disruption to their daily lives.
But beyond technology, what truly defines our Vascular Division is our commitment to compassionate care. Every patient receives a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs and health goals.
With locations serving Nassau County, Long Island, Queens, and surrounding New York communities, PRINE Health makes it easier than ever to access high-quality vascular care close to home.
Our expanding vascular services—including dedicated vascular labs—reflect our ongoing commitment to meeting the growing needs of our patients.
From initial evaluation to long-term management, our Vascular Division is designed to guide patients through every stage of their care journey. Whether you’re managing a chronic condition or seeking preventive care, PRINE Health is here to support you.
If you’re experiencing symptoms such as leg pain, swelling, or poor circulation—or if you have risk factors like diabetes or kidney disease—early evaluation can make all the difference.
